Sierra Vista is known as the Hummingbird Capital of Arizona. Year-round, birders flock to the area in order to catch glimpses of rare hummingbirds as they come and go throughout the seasons. This year, the City of Sierra Vista is celebrating Hummingbird Month, starting August 1st. Every week will feature a hummingbird related activity to engage and educate the community. In addition to hosting activities, the city has started a business program called Hummingbird Heroes. This program allows businesses to become Hummingbird Heroes by hosting events, promotional specials, or donation jars that benefit the Southeastern Arizona Bird Observatory (SABO).
